WALDOBORO, ME, July 13, 2018 – The Lincoln County Democratic Committee (LCDC) has confirmed a number of statewide and local candidates who will be attending its Lobster Bake and Family Fun Day at Cider Hill Farm in Waldoboro, Sunday Aug. 12 from Noon until 3 p.m.

Candidates who will be present include U.S. Congresswoman Chellie Pingree, U.S. Senate Candidate Zak Ringelstein, Maine Senate candidate Laura Fortman, and District Attorney candidate Natasha Irving, among others seeking county and state house of representative seats.

Said Pingree, running for reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives,

I am excited to join my fellow Democrats at the Lincoln County Lobster-bake again this year. This grassroots event is a great chance to meet and connect with the hard working volunteers and activists from Lincoln County.”

Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Janet Mills has responded that she hopes to be able to arrange her calendar to attend, as well.

Lincoln County is my home county,” commented Irving, whose midcoast candidacy covers Lincoln, Knox, Sagadahoc, and Waldo Counties. “The heartfelt support of my local Democratic Committee has been wonderful and I look forward to meeting more folks at the lobster bake.”

The event will begin at Noon with a Social Hour where guests can purchase beer, wine, and fresh oysters with a variety of condiments. Games and activities will be available for families with children. The Oystermen will once again provide a live music background for the day.

At 1 p.m., the lobsters come off the fire and are served by the candidates. While attendees enjoy their dinners of lobster or hot dogs, the “Treat for Two” excursion to Nebo Lodge on North Haven Island and a 50/50 Share the Pot raffle will be drawn, followed by short speeches by the candidates.

Fortman of Nobleboro said,

I can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday in the summer than with folks from Lincoln County at a lobster dinner at Cider Hill Farm. I'm already looking forward to the great food, the beautiful venue, and continuing the conversation about how, together, we can make Maine work for all of us.

Ringelstein added,

During my U.S. Senate run I've gotten to know countless Lincoln County Democrats and, given the grassroots nature of our campaign, it’s clear we share a lot in common. They've shared their concerns with me — including in the realms of healthcare, the environment, wage growth, and money in politics — as well as their hopes for a brighter future for Maine and for America. I'm delighted to be joining the Lincoln County Democratic Committee for their Lobster Bake and Family Fun Day, and I look forward to representing the good people of Lincoln County as Maine's next U.S. senator.”

Tickets for the lobster dinner are $40 per person and include lobster, mussels, corn, potato salad, coleslaw, watermelon, and a soft drink. Pemaquid oysters, beer, and wine will be available onsite for an extra charge. Jeff Hurd, owner of Waldoboro’s Narrows Tavern will cater the event.

Folks who are interested in attending but who may not wish to order the full lobster dinner may purchase tickets for a grilled hot dog dinner instead. A children’s option is also available. These meals also include corn, potato salad, coleslaw, watermelon, and a soft drink.

This is a popular event and dinners are selling well - but we have a big tent and room for as many who wish to attend so don’t be shy about making your reservation!” said Geoff Bates, a member of the committee.
