LCDC Food Pantry Partnership for April 2024

In April, LCDC meetings will return to hybrid sessions (both in-person and Zoom options). That means it will again be possible to select a Lincoln County Food Pantry each month to receive donations from attendees.

The next LCDC meeting will be on Thursday, April 25, at 7 PM at the Newcastle Fire House,86 River Road. As always, donations are greatly appreciated.

The Jefferson Food Pantry will be the recipient of donations for the month of April. The food pantry has requested the following items:
-pasta (not whole wheat),
-boxed cereals, and
-any canned meats, such as chicken and tuna.

Since LCDC meetings in January, February, and March were only held on zoom, it was not possible to collect for food pantries. In February, however, the caucuses provided the in-person opportunity for members to donate. During the caucuses, a total of 199.1 pounds of items were collected and donated to Healthy Lincoln County for general distribution to Lincoln County Food Pantries. Thank you to all who donated.

The partnership between LCDC and Healthy Lincoln County allows LCDC members to provide assistance with the problem of food insecurity in the county. Thank you to all who have contributed to this worthy cause.

There are at least eight food pantries in Lincoln County: Alna, Boothbay, Jefferson, Newcastle, New Harbor, Waldoboro, Whitefield, and Wiscasset. In addition to the food pantries, some communities in Lincoln County have free food stands that stock nonperishable items that are available 24/7.

We look forward to the continuation of our food pantry partnership this year and to the continued support of our LCDC members.
