01 Oct 2018 Clean Elections and Your Wallet
Every one of the Maine House and Senate Democratic candidates in Lincoln County are running publicly funded campaigns under what is known as the Clean Election system. As you know, that means they don’t need to ask their supporters for donations. In fact, it is illegal for them to take any other money. So, if you are lucky enough to have some extra cash and want it to have a local impact, what can you do with it this election season instead of donating to those candidates?
Here are a few choices:
- Support the entire Lincoln County election effort by making a donation to the Lincoln County Democratic Committee. Your money will help pay for our headquarters, the Rally for Democracy on October 20, our huge Get Out the Vote effort in the final six days leading up to the election, and various other ways in which we support our local candidates.
- Become a host at the fundraising LCDC Harvest Dinner in Whitefield on October 14.
- Contribute to Natasha Irving’s campaign (candidates for District Attorney aren’t covered by the Clean Elections program).
- And if you want to venture beyond Lincoln County, consider donating to Janet Mills for governor, Jared Golden for Congress (crucial CD2), Chellie Pingree for Congress, and Zak Ringelstein for U.S. Senate.
