21 Aug 2022 Jane Beckwith
State House District 53
Includes Dresden in Lincoln County, plus Chelsea, Pittston and Randolph in Kennebec County
Jane Beckwith lives in Randolph where she was raised. Her family ties in Pittston and Dresden go back many generations and she would be honored to represent these towns and Chelsea, which together make up the new House District 53. After graduating from Gardiner Area High School and Bates College, Jane studied in the United Kingdom on a Watson Fellowship and then lived in Seattle, Washington, where she studied American Sign Language and worked as a legal assistant. Upon graduating from Boston University School of Law, she acted on behalf of people who were discriminated against by their employers or who were fighting for fair treatment in their housing and in the education of their children. Eventually, through volunteer work in literacy, Jane became drawn to education as a career. Since the year 2001, she has worked as a tutor, first for an elite tutoring company and then on her own as an independent business owner. Jane wants to expand educational and employment opportunities for young Mainers, allowing students to reach their full potential and want to remain in Maine, so the state can benefit from their talents. She is firmly committed to protecting the voting rights, reproductive rights and human rights of all Mainers. Jane is running against incumbent Republican Michael Lemelin of Chelsea.
