The agenda includes a Legislative Advocacy 101 presentation by Destie Hohman Sprague of Bath, executive director of the Maine Women’s Lobby, who will talk about how citizens can learn about bills under consideration by the Maine Legislature and how to participate in the legislative process. Bills sponsored by Lincoln County legislators will also be shared
Our ability to play a role in making government work for all Mainers doesn't end at the ballot box,” said Kelli Whitlock Burton, LCDC chair. “Maine's legislative process provides many opportunities for constituents to speak out on legislation that matters to them. Learning about those and the bills our legislators will consider is an important part of participating in the democratic process.
Sprague joined Maine Women’s Lobby in 2020 after 11 years with the Maine Coalition Against Sexual Assault. While at MECASA, she served as associate director, supporting the agency’s work to identify and meet strategic goals to prevent and respond to sexual violence, exploitation, and trafficking; and to change systems and public policy to reflect a more just, equitable, and victim-centered Maine.
Voting members of the LCDC will automatically receive the log on information and reminders by email.
