Dear Friends,
We will not be coy: we are facing an unprecedented assault on the future of democracy by a Republican party that has willfully abandoned any semblance of moral responsibility. Within the state of Maine, Republicans continue to fight a rear-guard action, blocking our Governor’s efforts to fund deferred infrastructure maintenance and hoping for Paul LePage’s return.
LCDC organizes and implements a local campaign for Democratic candidates. We rent space and provide a central office where volunteers gather, discuss, and work for the changes they want to achieve. We provide canvassing opportunities to discover our neighbors’ electoral preferences. We host events, contact voters via personal notes, place online and print ads, and more. In 2018, the results were impressive. Of the eight Democratic candidates who ran for state offices, all received majority votes in Lincoln County.
Our first-term state representatives from Lincoln County are leading in the Maine legislature, making a positive difference for Mainers of every age and income level by introducing initiatives to protect the environment, provide assistance for the elderly, and more. We must ensure their return to Augusta to continue this important work.
Additionally, fresh faces from across the county will be working to replace Republicans and succeed folks who are term-limited.
Help us build an organization that will reach across the county from Wiscasset to Waldoboro and Southport to Somerville, mobilize Democrats and progressives, and deliver a resounding affirmation of the principles that Frances Perkins championed herself,
The people are what matter to government, and a government should aim to give all the people under its jurisdiction the best possible life.”
Stand with other Democrats and unenrolled progressive voters who recognize that this election will be won through the local mobilization of citizens who will vote for democratic change. Please return the enclosed form with your generous pledge of support or consider underwriting part of our Connecting for Change campaign. The examples posted below illustrate our proactive strategy for positive, grassroots organizing to win hearts and votes.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,

LCDC “punched significantly above its weight” in 2018. Of the eight Democratic candidates who ran for state offices, all received majority votes in Lincoln County.
By putting hundreds of boots on the ground, canvassing regularly to determine strengths throughout the county, and getting out the vote on Election Day, we made certain that good candidates with a strong sense of the Democratic ideals personified by Frances Perkins were successful.
This chart illustrates actual voter registration numbers for Lincoln County, Maine in 2018. While Republicans still outnumber Democrats, the LCDC campaign for positive change has led to strong wins, delivered good people to Augusta, and held our ground in Congress. We’ll need an effective strategy to counter the winds of negativity that will be blowing at hurricane force come November.
