25 Feb 2025 Frances Perkins Club | 2025 Membership Drive
Dear Friends,
Thirty years ago, the Lincoln County Democratic Committee (LCDC) created its annual appeal program and named it the Frances Perkins Club after President Roosevelt’s secretary of labor who spent summers with her grandmother here in Newcastle, Maine. Frances Perkins believed that “The people are what matter to government, and a government should aim to give all the people under its jurisdiction the best possible life.”
As you consider your annual donations for 2025, please join your friends, neighbors, and colleagues in supporting the Frances Perkins Club with a generous contribution to help us continue our critical work. Visit ActBlue at lincolncountydemocrats.com/perkinsclub to make a secure, online contribution, or return this form with your check today.
How does your support further advance LCDC’s mission to advance policies that uplift all Mainers?
To begin with, it is important to mention that Lincoln County achieved the highest percentage swing to Democratic voting of any county in New England! This didn’t happen by accident.
In fact:
> We marshaled an unprecedented number of voters for the February caucuses with 14 of the 16 towns in Lincoln County gathering to select delegates.
> Lincoln County volunteers knocked on 15,000 doors.
> Our writers contributed 150 letters to the editor in support of our candidates.
> LCDC volunteers wrote and sent ~9,500 peer-to-peer postcards.
LCDC defied conservative headwinds, winning six of nine races. We re-elected three veteran lawmakers, flipped a longtime Republican seat by electing Wayne Farrin to HD47, and secured a fully Democratic the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners.
Further, Congresswoman Chellie Pingree and the Harris/Walz ticket carried Lincoln County by wider margins than in 2020, clearly defying a national trend.
LCDC must begin now to prepare for upcoming challenges of referenda that seek to curtail voter participation and for gubernatorial and U.S. Senate races in 2026. By staying focused on local issues–voter education and registration, list building, mobilization, and candidate recruitment–we can maintain a Democratic firewall in Augusta that protects our environment, our health, and our personal freedoms.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely yours,
