ICYMI – Officer Elections Results from the Jan 23 Meeting

During our Thu, Jan 23 meeting we elected officers to serve two-year terms. Our new leadership team is as follows. Thanks for stepping up!

CHAIR: Keith Mestrich, Bristol
VICE CHAIR: Byron Cortez, Boothbay
SECRETARY: Carol Preston, Damariscotta
TREASURER: Mary Devlin, Damariscotta (We did not have any nominations for treasurer. In accordance with our bylaws, the current treasurer, Mary Devlin, will remain in that position until a new treasurer is elected. If you are interested in running for this position, Mary would be happy to discuss details and assist with training during a transition period.)

CHAIR’S DESIGNEE TO THE DSC: Chris Johnson, Somerville

Other members of the Executive Committee currently include:
DSC Member: Barbara Cray, Westport Island
DSC Member Ina Demers, Wiscasset

Thank you to our now Most Recent Past Chair Kelli Whitlock Burton, Waldoboro (who will remain a part of the Executive Committee by virtue of this new title) for her past two years of leadership. We also thank the following who have stepped down from Executive Committee positions: Outgoing Fundraising Leader Geoff Bates, South Bristol, Outgoing Outreach Leader Jan John, Bristol, Outgoing Communications Leader Autumn Mahoney, Bremen, and Outgoing Finance Leader Dan Hunter, Damariscotta. Our DSC Alternate Cathy Bennigson, Jefferson, has opted to step down from the Executive Committee while retaining her current position.

The LCDC also approved the Finance Initiative Leader appointment made by the Chair. Mary Devlin will continue to be part of the Executive Committee by virtue of this position should we elect a replacement Treasurer in the future.

In addition to the open Treasurer position, the following initiatives are looking for helpers. Please contact us if you are interested in working on any of the following: Fundraising, Outreach, Communications.

Note that our next meeting will be Thursday, February 27 (4th Thursday of the month) when we’ll look at The Legacy of Frances Perkins with guest speakers: Giovanna Gray Lockhart, Executive Director, Frances Perkins Center and Cynthia Phinney, President, Maine AFL-CIO.
