LCDC Welcomes New Campaign Manager

DAMARISCOTTA, Maine, Feb. 7, 2022 – Longtime Democratic political organizer Howard Waxman has joined the Lincoln County Democratic Committee (LCDC) as campaign manager for the 2022 election season.

Waxman served as the Maine Democratic Party field organizer for Lincoln County in 2018. Under his leadership, LCDC grew its volunteer base to one of the largest of any county committee in the state, a key factor in Democrats’ success at the polls in Lincoln County that year.

In 2018, with Howard’s help, Lincoln County flipped from red to blue in races up and down the ballot, including in the governor’s race, two state House seats and the district attorney” said Kelli Whitlock Burton, vice-chair of LCDC and the leader of the organization’s 2022 campaign initiatives. “We’re thrilled to welcome Howard back to Lincoln County and look forward to working with him to elect a strong slate of progressive candidates when we go to the polls on Nov. 8.”

In addition to his work with the state party, Waxman has worked for Maine People’s Alliance and for local Democratic candidates in Sagadahoc County, including Senate Majority Leader Eloise Vitelli (D-Sagadahoc) and former state Rep. Jennifer DeChant (D-Bath).

Working with the LCDC and hundreds of passionate Democratic volunteers in 2018 was one of the most memorable experiences of my life,” said Waxman. “I'm so happy to be back and looking forward to another great, successful campaign!”

Primarily a writer, Waxman has created scripts for plays produced in New York and across the Midwest. He also served as Off-Broadway theater critic for the entertainment weekly Variety and worked as an actor with the Tony Award-winning San Francisco Mime Troupe. A resident of Bath for the past 16 years, Waxman is an active member of Studio Theatre of Bath and the Beth Israel congregation.

This year’s election includes races for 11 county and state offices that represent Lincoln County, as well as contests for the governor’s seat and the U.S. House of Representatives’ for District 1.
