BOOTHBAY, Maine, August 18, 2024 – The Boothbay Region and Southport Democratic Committees are excited to announce the End-of-Summer Family Picnic, taking place on the Boothbay Common on Saturday, Sept. 7, from noon to 3 p.m., rain or shine. This fun-filled event is free and open to the public, though donations are greatly appreciated.
Building on the success of the Democrats’ participation in the Windjammer Days Parade, the Family Picnic promises to be a warm, community-oriented gathering for neighbors and friends as we move further into this dynamic campaign season. Attendees can expect a delightful afternoon of food, music, games, and guest speakers—all in a spirit of community, solidarity, and celebration.
Join us for an array of delicious offerings, including grilled burgers (both meat and veggie options) and hot dogs (beef and chicken), along with refreshing beverages and a variety of side dishes and desserts contributed by our members and friends. If you’d like to share a sweet or savory dish, please reach out to Boothbay Region Democratic Committee Chair Lucian Laurie at dem.chair.23@gmail.com or Boothbay Vice-Chair Byron Cortez at boothbaydems@gmail.com.
Local musicians Bill Arsenault and Company will provide live entertainment, playing an eclectic mix of pop, jazz, and folk tunes. Families will enjoy outdoor games, and the Boothbay Common offers picnic tables for seating; attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs for comfort as we anticipate a large turnout.
We are pleased to announce that Rep. Holly Stover (Maine House District 48) and Sen. Cameron Reny (Maine Senate District 13) will join us to address the gathering. Additionally, prospective County Commissioner Evan Goodkowsky has committed to stopping by.
The Boothbay Region Democratic Committee represents Maine Democrats in the towns of Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb, and South Bristol. This Family Picnic is organized in partnership with the Southport Democratic Committee, and together, we aim to promote
shared Democratic and progressive values in local elections, policy, and community action. We welcome all community members who wish to participate, as we work closely with the Lincoln County Democratic Committee to engage positively in the issues that affect our lives, both now and in the future.
While pre-registration for the picnic is appreciated, it is not required. For updates and more information, please contact Laurie at dem.chair.23@gmail.com, or Cortez at boothbaydems@gmail.com. We look forward to celebrating with you on September 7!
