NEWCASTLE, Maine, March 11, 2019 – On Thursday, Mar. 21, the public is invited to hear from two of Lincoln County’s newest representatives, Holly Stover from House District 89 and Chloe Maxmin from House District 88.
said Barb Burt of Boothbay Harbor and chair of the Lincoln County Democratic Committee (LCDC) Campaign Committee. In the heat of a political campaign, one can be forgiven for thinking that all the excitement is about winning the election. It’s similar to the focus expectant parents put on the upcoming birth of their child. But in reality, the real work—for the parents and for the candidate—comes afterward. Candidates who win elections must then pivot to their new responsibility, governing. The best candidates would have already been giving this new job a great deal of thought and preparation,
Stover and Maxmin, both elected for their well-formulated ideas about what they’d like to accomplish for the people of their districts, will discuss the causes they are working on and share their general first impressions of work in the Maine Legislature.
Maxmin is a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, and Stover is a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Health and Human Services.
The LCDC is the sponsor of the March 21 session to be held in the Community Room at the Newcastle Fire Station, 86 River Rd. in Newcastle. A social half-hour starts at 6:30 p.m. followed by the discussion at 7 p.m.
In 2019, the LCDC will meet on the third Thursday of each month through Nov. at 6:30 p.m. at the Newcastle Fire Station, 86 River Rd. Some gatherings, like this one, are open to the public. All Democrats and progressive independent or unenrolled voters are encouraged to attend any committee meeting. Registered Democrats in Lincoln County are invited to join the LCDC as voting members to help in their work.
