We’ve got several options for you! Pre-nominations by form submission are now open for LCDC Secretary, Democratic State Committee representative, and representatives for the Maine Dems’ Platform and Credentials Committees. Nominations from the floor will also be accepted during the elections.
We will hold these elections during our April 27 and May 25 hybrid meetings. You do not have to be present, but it is recommended.
Please consider nominating yourself for any one or more of these positions. Follow the links to learn more but please let us know if you have questions!
Secretary, Lincoln County Democratic Committee
Nomination deadline: April 23
Election: April 27
Our current secretary has stepped back from this role, so we need to fill this important position! As an officer of the LCDC, the Secretary is a member of the Executive Committee. Duties include recording the minutes from monthly Executive Committee and LCDC meetings, communicating with members about LCDC business, and maintaining our voting member list. The Secretary also works with the Communications Leader on other projects as needed. The person elected will serve the remainder of the two-year term, expiring in January, 2025.
One (1) Rep to the Democratic State Committee (DSC)
Nomination deadline: April 23
Election: April 27
The DSC is the governing body of the Maine Democratic Party between state conventions. LCDC is allotted three representatives and one alternate on the Democratic State Committee (DSC). The body provides guidance in party affairs and promotes the ideals, party platform, and nominated candidates of the Maine Democratic Party. The DSC meets every other month. DSC rules require that counties have gender diverse DSC contingencies. Our two remaining representatives and alternate all identify as female. Our new DSC representative must identify as male or nonbinary.
Three (3) Reps to the MDP Platform Committee
Nomination deadline: May 15
Election: May 25
The Maine Democratic Party (MDP) Platform is our statement of core values that guides us in all we do. Every odd-numbered year, all 16 Democratic county committees in Maine elect representatives to serve on the Platform Committee, which drafts our state party platform. Work usually begins in the fall, although it may start earlier this year, and continues through early March of 2024, just before the Convention (usually occurring in May).
One (1) Rep to the MDP Credentials Committee
Nomination deadline: May 15
Election: May 25
The Maine Democratic Party (MDP) Credentials Committee fills state convention delegate vacancies that a municipal committee or a county committee cannot. It can also fill vacancies that occur at the last minute. The work of the Credentials Committee doesn’t start until after the 2024 caucuses have been held and after the municipal/regional and county committees have made their efforts to fill vacancies before the 2024 Convention (usually occurring in May).
