Bremen Democrats Get Organized in 2020

We are Official!

Thanks to Mary Voskian, elected as Town Chair at the March caucus, the Bremen Democratic Committee officially kicked off (after the pandemic derailment) with a Zoom meeting on August 18, 2020. During this meeting we adopted our official Town Committee Bylaws, elected a secretary, voted in our first official members, and heard from our local candidates Lydia Crafts and Chloe Maxmin. Barb Burt also joined us to explain how we could help the LCDC Campaign Committee’s efforts.

Teamwork

Many of us volunteered through the LCDC Connecting for Change activities. We contacted neighbors, phone banked, wrote postcards, addressed envelopes, displayed issue and candidate signs, demonstrated at rallies, and volunteered or worked at the polls. During he final days before the election, a small group of us reviewed the Bremen voter list and called into folks encouraging outstanding ballots to be brought in and made sure others had a plan to vote at the polls on election day.

There is a saying: “A Democracy is not a spectator sport. It is a team sport.” This was a team effort and we are so proud of the turnout and results we saw in Bremen.

Membership

Our email list is now 36 strong with 17 voting members!

All registered Democratic Bremen voters, unenrolled progressives, or interested seasonal Bremenites are invited to join our email list. Please contact us at bremendemocrats@gmail.com to be added!

Registered D voters are eligible to become voting members of our committee, you just have to ask to be added to our roster (or if you are a voting member of the Lincoln County Democratic Committee and vote in Bremen, you will be automatically added.)

The Future

We hope to create a strong local communications network and plan to partner with Bristol and South Bristol for some regional activities as well as continue to participate with the LCDC programs.

All suggestions are welcome as to how to make our committee work for our members. Our mission is to foster participation in the preservation and progression of our democracy through the election of candidates who support our values and represent all the people in order to create a more just society.

We wish you all a restful fall and winter.
Stay safe and well!
