DAMARISCOTTA, Maine, May 3, 2020 – The Lincoln County Democratic Committee has announced the program for its virtual Frances Perkins Award Dinner honoring Sheriff Todd Brackett. The virtual dinner will take place via a Zoom gathering Saturday, May 16 from 7:30 – 9 p.m.

We are thrilled with the response we’ve had to Sheriff Brackett’s receiving this well-deserved recognition and our program is shaping up to be both enlightening and entertaining,” said Geoff Bates, the organizer of the evening. “An addition to the biennial event will be a musical performance by award-winning Boothbay singer-songwriter John Schindler.”

Friends and colleagues of Sheriff Brackett who will deliver testimonial remarks are District Attorney Natasha Irving, Sagadahoc County Sheriff Joel Merry, and Commissioner for Corrections for the State of Maine Randall Liberty, who wrote in response to his invitation that he and the Sheriff have “traveled many miles together” having attended the Maine Criminal Justice Academy together in 1989, worked in Kennebec County, and having both served as Sheriffs.

Additionally, Marge Kilkelly, Regional Representative for U.S. Senator Angus King for Androscoggin County, will deliver remarks. Kilkelly was an early supporter of Sheriff Brackett during his first election campaign in 2002.

John Schindler has graciously agreed to join us for a short set and we couldn’t be happier,” said Bates. Chris Darling, who hosts the U.S. Folk show at WMPG in Portland has written of Schindler, “John’s writing is powerful, you think you are hearing elegant language (and you are), cutting lyrics (yes that too), really fine arrangements (again you are) and you might think soothing (yeah, some) and then the next verse comes along and the wind is kicked out of your gut via his writing. Great guest, we could use some more John Schindler in the world!”

The public is invited to join the LCDC at its virtual Frances Perkins Award Dinner on Saturday, May 16, at 7:30 p.m. In keeping with the “Stay Healthy at Home” Executive Order and everyone’s shared concerns about COVID-19, this year’s event will take place online and guests can choose gift cards to one of five popular Lincoln County restaurants to use at their leisure in lieu of sitting down to the traditional banquet-style meal. For more information about the event including how to make reservations or make a donation in honor of Sheriff Bracket visit https://lincolncountydemocrats.com/award or contact Bates at 207-644-8776.

The LCDC uses the money they raise through this and other fundraising initiatives to support their local efforts in Lincoln County. Its grassroots mission is to organize volunteers and communicate with voters in support of candidates who believe in the Democratic ideals and principles of government by, of, and for all the people.
