LCDC Food Pantry Partnership for November 2024

For the month of November (starting on October 25th), the Ecumenical Food Pantry in Newcastle will be the recipient of our donations. Here is the list of their requested items:
-canned peaches or pears (preferable without added sugar)
-spaghetti sauce
-toothpaste
-laundry detergent.

Donations may be dropped off at the Lincoln County Democratic Committee (LCDC) Campaign Headquarters at 27 River Road in Newcastle (just across from The Lincoln Home). The office is open 9 AM – 5 PM, Monday through Friday and weekends from 10 AM – 2 PM. Food pantry donations can be dropped off at the office ONLY when it is open (You’ll see the flags flying in front of the building).

Otherwise there are three main opportunities in November to make donations.

  1. When you come to the office to do a GOTV (Get Out The Vote) canvassing or driving shift. If you have not already, please sign up here.
  2. At the Election Night Watch Party on November 5, 7:30-11 PM, at the American Legion Hall, 527 Main Street, Damariscotta. Sign up here so we know you’re coming.
  3. At the final LCDC meeting for 2024 to be held on November 14 at the campaign office at 7 PM with an election debrief by Maine Public’s Kevin Miller. If you plan to attend in person, please consider bringing a donation.

In September 88 pounds were donated to the Boothbay Food Pantry. The Bristol Democratic Committee donated 25.23 pounds to their New Harbor Food Pantry, and the Bremen Democratic Committee donated 15 pounds to the Waldoboro Food Pantry. The total number of pounds donated to Lincoln County food pantries from February to September 2024 was 984.13 pounds. October numbers are still being tallied.

There are at least eight food pantries in Lincoln County: Alna, Boothbay, Jefferson, Newcastle, New Harbor, Waldoboro, Whitefield, and Wiscasset. In addition to the food pantries, some communities in Lincoln County have free food stands that stock nonperishable items that are available 24/7.

As LCDC continues its partnership with Healthy Lincoln County, we thank all who have provided assistance with food insecurity through their generous contributions. We look forward to the continued support of our members and friends for this worthy cause.
