LCDC Food Pantry Partnership for January 2025

From May to September, 2024, we collected a total of 1,405.13 pounds of items for Lincoln County food pantries. Thank you to all who contributed items.

For January, we’ll collect some much needed items for the New Harbor Food Pantry. If you are able to contribute, they request:

-personal care items: bar soap, toothpaste, body wash
-household items: dish soap, laundry detergent, paper towels, toilet paper

We have two opportunities for collecting donations. First we’ll gather on Sunday, January 12, 2-3:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 527 Main St. in Damariscotta for a Volunteer & Candidate Appreciation Social. And then the monthly hybrid meeting will be held on Thursday, January 23, starting at 6:30 p.m. for social time at the Newcastle Fire Station, 86 River Rd.

There are at least eight food pantries in Lincoln County: Alna, Boothbay, Jefferson, Newcastle, New Harbor, Waldoboro, Whitefield, and Wiscasset. In addition to the food pantries, some communities in Lincoln County have free food stands that stock nonperishable items that are available 24/7.

As LCDC continues its partnership with Healthy Lincoln County, we thank all who have provided assistance with food insecurity through their generous contributions. We look forward to the continued support of our members and friends for this worthy cause.

Last, but not least, we thank Mary Voskian of Bremen for her efforts in coordinating this project since 2023. Brava!! If anyone would like to coordinate this initiative or help in any way, please contact our Outreach Leader Jan John at janjohn1us@yahoo.com.
