About Natasha Irving

District Attorney Natasha Irving grew up in a union household in Waldoboro and graduated from Medomak Valley High School. She attended Loyola University in New Orleans, earning a BA in Philosophy.  The Jesuits at Loyola University instilled a passion for social and economic justice and a deep belief that we are called to serve most vulnerable in our communities.  Between college and law school, Natasha served a year as an Americorps Volunteer in Knox County.  Natasha completed her law degree at the University of Maine School of Law, and went on to work as a labor organizer, community organizer, and political organizer before opening her private law practice serving indigent Mainers.

In 2018, Natasha ran for District Attorney, and was elected the first woman and the first Democratic District Attorney in District 6, and the first criminal justice reformer elected DA in the State of Maine.  Reelected in 2022, Natasha has been a leader in the state and the country in advocacy for restorative justice and justice reform.  She is a member of Fair and Just Prosecution and Law Enforcement Action Partnership, served on Maine’s Parole Commission, and currently represents Maine Prosecutors at the Overdose Review Panel.

Natasha lives in Rockland with her husband, two daughters ages 11 and 5, as well as her dog and two cats.  In her spare time, Natasha loves native gardening to support wildlife, movie and popcorn nights with her family, and reading all the romantic fantasy she can get her hands on.
