Rep. Chellie Pingree was elected to Congress in 2008, the first Democratic woman from Maine elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. She proudly represents Maine’s 1st Congressional District. She is a mother, grandmother, organic farmer, small business owner and has lived on the offshore island of North Haven since she was a teenager. In Congress, Chellie currently sits on the powerful House Appropriations Committee, where she has fought to expand opportunities for working families, protect our veterans and worked to expand access to health care. Chellie is an outspoken advocate for Maine families in Congress, as well as for women’s reproductive rights, universal health care and lowering the cost of prescription drugs, combating climate change, fighting economic inequality, and protecting seniors, veterans, and American workers. She is seeking her ninth term in the House.
