Judy Tunkle has a degree in early childhood development and ran the first home-based childcare center for Knox County. She later attainted a master’s in counseling and had a thriving practice as a psychotherapist. These career pursuits enables her to bring deep experience in listening with empathy. Now a resident of Dresden, she started a Democratic organization where none existed — which is now a lively and a vital center of political activity. Her most recent endeavor is championing the securing of high-speed broadband for local residents. She formed an all-volunteer, nonprofit corporation dedicated to digital equity. This will ensure internet access, equipment, and training for those who are financially challenged. These combined activities have placed Judy on solid ground with the town’s select board and other local officials. One of her key talents is recruiting and energizing members of the community. While a lifelong Democrat, Judy is committed to doing the right thing in Augusta—for all the people of her district.
