About Cameron Reny
I am currently serving my second term in the Maine State Senate and running for re-election because this district means so much to me and my family. I’ve spent my career building strong communities and a good, sustainable future for our children and grandchildren, and look forward to continuing to put this experience to work for us in Augusta.
I grew up in a working-class family in Bristol and graduated from Lincoln Academy. I went on to earn a degree from Guilford College in North Carolina and a Master's in School Counseling from the University of Southern Maine. Before representing my hometown district in Augusta, I was a public school counselor working with Maine children and families. I serve on the Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee and Joint Standing Committee on Marine Resources. In my first term, I served as Senate Chair of the Marine Resources Committee and a member of the Health Coverage, Insurance, and Financial Services Committee.
I’m proud of the work accomplished during my first two terms and its impact on our district. My colleagues and I prioritized addressing the rising costs of living and investing in important infrastructures like roads, broadband, housing, storm preparedness, public education, property tax relief, and more. I’ve personally passed bills to protect mobile home communities, support working families who rely on childcare, and improve access to affordable medication.
There has been positive movement to address important issues, even in these polarizing times, and I want to see that work continue.
Platform Issues:
- Ensure necessities like healthcare are available to everyone
- Protect our clean air and water for future generations
- Expand pharmacy access and coverage
- Increase and protect affordable housing
- Strengthen local economies and heritage industries
- Support working families with affordable and accessible childcare
