Our May meeting featured a legislative update by Sen. Cameron Reny and Reps. Holly Stover & Lydia Crafts; David Costello, candidate for U.S. Senate, introduced himself and his campaign; Lincoln County Probate Judge William Avantaggio announced his re-election bid and write-in candidacy for the June primary; and a brief introduction by newly announced candidates Wayne Farrin (HD47). Chloe Maxmin and local activists Andy Burt and Michelle Henkin. We were also introduced to two Democratic Candidates vying for the State Senate District 13 seat that Sen. Maxmin will be vacating. The Lincoln County Democratic Committee met on November 18, 2021 via Zoom. Our guest speaker Rep. Seth Berry provided an update on Our Power’s initiative asking voters to replace Maine’s two investor-owned corporate utilities, Central Maine Power and Versant, with a new nonprofit consumer-owned utility called the Pine Tree Power Company. The Lincoln County Democratic Committee met on June 17, 2021. For Pride Month we welcomed Quinn Gormley, Executive Director of MaineTransNet to discuss the status of legislation that seeks to restrict the civil rights of transgender youth and adults and talk about ways allies can support their trans family, friends, and neighbors.
